folder lock in XP

Lock a Folder in widows XP!

How to lock a folder in windows XP?

imagine you want to lock the folder named “test” in C: drive.

The path for the folder is C:\test

Now create a text file at C:\ and type the follwoing command

ren test test.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

Now save this text file as hide.bat

Create another text file and type in it

ren test.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} test

Now save this text file as restore.bat

Press “hide.bat” and the folder test will change to control panel icon and even if you click the icon only control pannel opens and nothing else. Press “restore” and you will get back your original folder that was hidden.

You can move this folder to anywhere on your drives. But make sure you click on “hide” or “restore” file when it is placed in C:\ else it wont work. Always remember the folder is to be hide and "restore" and "hide" files should be in same folder at the time of using them, after use you can move it.

Enjoy this new XP trick!
